California-based
industrial and back office enterprise printing vendor Printronix is aiming at
establishing its presence in the country through distribution partnerships.
The vendor has instituted a regional distribution partnership with Delhi-based
channel partner Compro Computers. Compro has been awarded distribution rights of
Printronix range of industrial fanfold laser and barcode printers for the entire
northern zone.

WeP Peripherals, which has a
long-standing relationship with Printronix, will continue to be the sole
distributor of line matrix range of printers in the country.

Giving details about the
company's business plans for its growth in India, Piyush Kapur, Major Account
Manager, Printronix, said, “As India is ushering in the era of becoming a
major manufacturing hub, the time is ripe to position our high end products
here which we were not selling previously to Indian customers. But the kind of
printing solutions Printronix manufactures are meant for specialized applications
and owing to this we will limit our go-to-market approach to select segments
only. The exclusive features like cold fusion and continuous unattended
printing are the attributes which not every user would require, hence we want to
position our product to its targeted verticals only.” He added, “Initially
our major focus will be on the dispersal of awareness about Printronix product
line amongst prospective and potential buyers.”

Printronix printers find
application in varied industry verticals ranging from industrial distribution
centers, service bureaus to printing of automotive window stickers, laboratory
bar codes, RFID barcodes to shipping labels. Printronix printers can print on
any media including plastic as well, owing to its cold fusion printing capacity
whereas normal printers extend the option of hot fusion technology only.

After appointing a distribution partner for the north, the
company is contemplating on engaging partners in southern and western regions of
India.
