Confed-ITA has elected its new office bearers for 2009. The elected members
were officially announced during the executive committee meeting held in Tirupur
last week. PN Prasad, the current VP of Confed has been elected as President.
The other office bearers include C Balakrishnan (Eorde) as VP, A Muthuswamy (Madurai)
as Secretary, Vinod Kumar (Trichy) as Treasurer, Meenakshi Sundaram (Tutucorin)
and P Shanmugam (Tirupur) as Joint Secretaries.

The new office bearers will take charge during the second Confed Summit that
will take place on December 13 and 14, 2008. They will take over their
responsibilities effective January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. But before they
take on their new roles, they will have to drive the summit and work towards its
success under the guidance of the existing team. This time the proposed location
of the summit is East Coast Road (ECR), which is between Chennai and Puducherry.
“This election is another stepping stone for Confed. The new enthusiastic team
has been elected for 2009-10. It has been decided that every new team that would
be elected will work for the summit, before taking the office for the next
year,” informed S Karthikeyan, President, Confed. In an attempt to take Confed
to the masses, the executive committee of Confed plans to conduct a paper
presentation contest for college students across Tamil Nadu. K Babu, Secretary,
Tirupur IT Association, and an EC member of Confed, will head the event.
Briefing on the plans, Babu said, “Confed plans to award cash prizes to the
student community for the paper presentations on innoÂvative software designs.
We want Confed to further enhance its reach among the masses and reaching the
student community is an initial step for that. The winners would be awarded
during the second annual Confed Summit to be held in December.”
Confed has proposed to present the awards in memory of the four dealers who
lost their lives in various accidents in the past year.

Following in the footsteps of Tirupur IT Association (TITA), one of the associations under its belt, Confed-ITA is offering accidental insurance policies to all its members. TITA had recently introduced accidental insurance policy and cashless hospitalization by offering accidental policies worth Rs 2 lakh and cashless hospitalization up to Rs 50,000 free of cost. Going one step ahead of TITA, Confed has introduced the insurance policy for all 800 members of the 14 associations under Confed and paid the premium amount of Rs 140 on behalf of members, informed S Karthikeyan, President, Confed-ITA.
