elate the IT business scenario across the East, Kolkata is all geared

up to embrace 2011 with new hopes of an improvised business

development. Inspite of the gloomy situation faced by the Kolkata

partners, it seems like business houses and major channel partners in

the distribution and solutions business are optimist about what the

New Year has in store for them. Thus,

starting on a positive note, Planet Computers from Kolkata is

planning to open up one retail showroom and two retail outlets in

central, south and north Kolkata in next two months.

The

Kolkata market is growing and I wish that the growth rate in the IT

sector should be high every quarter.

year, distributors in the East have fared much better compared to the

scenario in the South, where the key focus has been over solutions

and retail. The SMB is picking up rapidly in the recent times and is

expected to contribute significantly in the coming year. Sectors

across this vertical along with retail are opening up broadly towards

accepting new technologies and the adaptability ratio is quite good,”

shared JK Gothra, Director, Planet Computers.

as a retailer for computer hardware, peripherals, media consumables

IT products for its new showroom. Currently, it is also an exclusive

As

a clear indicator, the East has evolved into a major distribution hub

from the retail trend. Besides the movement of a continued increase

of distribution in the East, SaaS has also fared well and is expected

to push up in the next CY,” added Gothra.

at

the current scenario, it looks like apart from the hardcore

solutions, IT leasing is also expected to have a good prospect with

an estimated 15 percent growth in East alone. Planet had also tied-up

with HP as a regional distributor for its desktop business.
