Philips India is planning to launch its own range of keyboards and mice by the middle of this month. The company hopes to get completely on the desktop as it has plans to launch a slew of products by April 2004 along with its new campaign called ‘Visibly Philips’.
Elaborated Sanjay Mahesh-wari, Head (Distribution-PCP), Philips India, “Philips has plans of getting completely on the desktop, therefore in a phased manner there will be a number of products announced. The same distributors will be handling these products–that is Priya and Compuage. The channel network of Philips has been established through them. Now we have at least 100 odd partners across the country.”
Philips is mainly known for its LCD monitors in India, therefore this is the first time the company will be getting into a new product segment. “The reason Philips has planned to get into this is mainly because in small towns consumers do not buy branded PCs as they are 25 to 30 percent more expensive. Therefore with this new campaign, an ass-embler could build the system using branded parts from Philips. Small towns will be the main targets as markets in met-ros have stagnated,” pointed out
Maheshwari.
Philips will also be intro-ducing specialized pricing for the Indian market. “We are loo-king at not competing with the MNC brands but offering a high quality product at a good price,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, the company has also created local billing and multi point deliveries at all B and C class cities across the country.
