PG Kamath, Vice President-Marketing, Ingram Micro has moved on to Lexmark India to take up charge as Country GM. Kamath ended his nine year stint at Ingram Micro and has 15 years experience IT distribution. At Ingram Micro, he was responsible for nationwide sales, marketing, and partner management and has set an impeccable record in the IT distribution industry.
His move has been in the offing for quite some time, Kamath discloses. In anticipation of this, many of the functions that Kamath used to handle were slowly moved to report directly to NY Prasad, Managing Director, Ingram Micro India. Sanjay Zadoo was brought in as the sales head in end-2001. He has since been elevated to the position of Deputy General Manager. A direct replacement of Kamath is therefore not seen as a possibility.
Lexmark India is one of the principals of Ingram Micro. Says Kamath, "I had seen enough of the distribution industry. I
wished to see the other side of the coin". While he describes distribution to be a fulfillment business dictated by vendor policies, he is extremely satisfied at having created a differentiation for Ingram Micro. He replaces the existing country head, Frances Duggan who is based in Chennai and is shortly expected to move back to Lexmark Singapore. Lexmark is a $ 4.1 B printing solutions company with laser and inkjet printers, multifunction printers, and associated services and supplies for the home and corporate markets, serving 150 countries.
