Pecon inaugurates international BPO

In a bid to diversify and offer a wide gamut of products and services Pecon
Infotech inaugurated its first international BPO service facility in Kolkata.
Opened under the wing of Pecon Software, the call center at the Salt Lake
Electronics Complex will accommodate 60 heads, which in time will be expanded to
accommodate 200 seats.

With this new venture the company marked its foray into the BPO sector.
Throwing light on the future roadmap Mahesh K Shah, Director, Pecon Infotech
said, “Our next target is to enter the KPO ind-ustry as that is the ultimate
recognition as far as ITeS services is concerned. Our experience with the BPO
will help us to gain the required international skill and know-how related to
technology, ser-vice, job delivery and market.”

Spread over 8,000 sq ft, the call center will have three shifts and will
employ more than 200 professionals initially. According to the company, Pecon
has orders from some telecom, dish TV and mortgage companies for marketing their
products and services and the plan is to engage 4,000 agents in the next two
years.

The company has plans to invest Rs 25 crore in the next two years in this
sector. In the first phase Rs 10 crore will be invested by the end of 2007 for
setting up of a new 25,000 sq ft software and ITeS facility at Rajarhat.

Meanwhile, Pecon is plan-ning to set up a software and IT center at Siliguri
too. The company is commencing its BPO training division where the future
aspirants would

be imparted training to gather required skills for employment.

Pecon has formulated a two-pronged approach for its ITeS division. While its
BPO wing is set to handle volume business, the KPO unit is due to work on areas
like patent filing and research, intellectual property rights and legal issues.
