The Delhi-based
Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology ( href="https://www.dqweek.com/delhi-associations-slip-down-the-chart">PCAIT)
organized
its first networking gala dinner at Vasant Vihar Club on
February 18, 2010. In its almost six years of existence, this was the
first time that the association had organized such kind of a
networking dinner for all its members.

Saket Kapur, General
Secretary, PCAIT said, “In the last five to six years, the only
occasion where all the members met was during AGM. But in the last
eight to nine months, since the new council has come in after the
elections last year, we have found a lot of enthusiasm amongst the
new council members to work together.”

“Subsequently, it was
felt that all members should come together under one roof on a
periodic basis to exchange information and increase business amongst
us. All of us are in the same trade and we do business with each
other; however, we sometime fail to understand our focus areas. So,
this kind of get together will definitely help us in taking the
objective forward,” added Kapur.

Even though it was the
first time, the association received an overwhelming and encouraging
response from its members. PCAIT has not seen this kind of a response
even in its AGM, which clearly indicates that the members were quite
enthusiastic about this event. This encouragement has further
prompted the members to sponsor the next three such meetings. In its
next Executive Council meeting, which has been fixed for the second
Saturday of every month, the association will decide on the
periodicity of organizing such events, whether it will be monthly or
quarterly.

“For those who could not
come for whatever reason, they did miss something. They need not
however despair, as they all will have plenty of such opportunities
as more and more such assemblages are going to come up in the near
future, that too as frequent as possible. Some member organizations
have also shown their desire to sponsor such event, in the coming
months," asserted Sujeet Narula, Joint Secretary, PCAIT.

Despite the evening being
informal; Ashwini K Aggarwal, ED, MAIT, R K Malhotra, President,
PCAIT, Saket Kapur and Sujeet Narula did talk of business; about how
and what PCAIT was planning. Amongst the initiatives, PCAIT is
planning a big venture to bring up a 'Green Delhi' IT city. For this
purpose, Sanjiv Bhavnani, EC Member of PCAIT, will be the lead
consultant of the Committee consisting of P K Roy and Anil K Mangla
(all PCAIT's EC Members) and Ashwini K Aggarwal, with active
support and participation of MAIT and possibly NASSCOM, CDMA and
other interested associations.

style="font-weight: normal;">The
gathering was also briefed about the steps being taken legally and
otherwise to remove the encroachments in Nehru Place and give it a
facelift too. Sujeet Narula also initiated a proposal to form a
special task group to help recover dues from defaulters on account of
supplies by PCAIT members to its own members as well as to others.

Nitin Aggarwal, Director
of Trifin Technologies and also a member of PCAIT, asserted that
PCAIT has taken a good step of organizing a get together. “This
gives an opportunity to all the members to interact and share
business ideas with the IT channel community and also gives a
platform to announce the future events. Let us hope that the
association will continue to organize such networking events once in
every quarter,” concluded Aggarwal.
