Patni to set up center in Chennai

Patni Computer Systems Ltd has announced its plans to expand operations in
Chennai. As part of this ini-tiative, the company will set up a center across 20
acres of acquired land in the Siruseri IT Park, of SIPCOT-a state government
body. Upon completion, the center will be company's second largest modern
software develop-ment center in India with a capacity to accommodates 10,000
professional with all support services.

According to the BSE website, the proposed center to be developed at a total
cost of about Rs 450 crore will add to company's multiple deli-very facilities
in Anna Salai (Chennai), Bangalore, Mum-bai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Gan-dhinagar and
Noida.

Phase 1 of the project will be completed in the first qua-rter of 2005 with
an invest-ment of approximately Rs 60 crore; it will have a capacity to
accommodate 1,200 pro-fessionals with top class working facilities.

Announcing the decision, Patni resident director-India PJ Kutar said,
"At Patni, we are fully committed to deli-vering long term growth by
continuously investing in physical infrastructure, do-main capabilities and new
service lines. Our current fin-ancial performance conti-nues to exceed overall
indu-stry growth and the Chennai center has played a crucial role in achieving
this high pace of growth."

"The planned center in Chennai will enable us to ramp up operations with
our large clients in the growing verticals of financial services, manufacturing
and insu-rance and become the pre-ferred IT solution provider in these chosen
verticals for all global IT outsourcers," he added.

Patni currently employs about 500 software profe-ssionals at the Anna Salai
center in Chennai.
