Optenet launches operations in Australia

Optenet, a Spanish information security tech­nology provider, anno­unced the
launch of its operations in Australia with the opening of a new office in
Sydney. The company plans to market its new security solutions for telcos,
managed security providers and enterprises from the new office, said a press
release. The company's focus areas would be Web/Wap filtering solutions apart
from MMS filtering, anti-spam and anti-virus solutions for ISPs, carriers and
corporations. According to Jean-Philippe Fortier, Country Manager- Australia,
Optenet, "Australia is taking giant steps towards protecting children and
families from illegal Internet content. Optenet has had great success with its
Web/Wap filtering solutions in Europe and Latin America and we are bringing our
experience to this part of the world." Optenet Web Filter PC was part of
NetAlert child protection program and the company is a member of the Internet
Industry Association and the Australian Internet Industry Association, the press
release said. At present, the company provides protection for over 75 million
users worldwide with over 50 telecom operators such as Telefónica, Orange and
O2, which offer security services to their customers using Optenet's technology.
