Online shopping firm owners held for cheating

Two senior executives of an online shopping portal have been held from Noida on the charges of looting hundreds of customers.

Arindam Bose, 47, the director of online shopping portal ‘timtara.com', and his associate Harish Ahluwalia, 35, were arrested when they did not deliver orders worth lakhs of rupees, which were made by customers online.

The arrests came following investigations into over 200 complaints from all over the country.

"The victims claimed that they had paid money online through credit cards for various items such as mobile phones, cameras and pen drives. Despite repeated requests and follow-ups by customers, the goods never arrived at their addresses," said SD Mishra, additional DCP (Economic Offences Wing). .

According to police, the company had shut down their front office in Noida's Sector 8 to avoid detection and confrontation with the customers they had cheated.

The website, www.timtara.com, claimed to sell products like cameras, mobiles, home appliances etc.

"During investigation, it was revealed that the portal was actively engaged in online shopping fraud," said Mishra.Bose, who hails from Kolkata, is a Bachelor in Electronics from Jadavpur University. Ahluwalia belongs to Kaithal in Haryana.
