Sharp Business Systems (India) Ltd, manufacturer of electronic products has pegged the number of LCD monitors sold in India to touch one lakh mark by 2004.
"Today, we can already see that the number of LCD monitors has grown from a mere 2,000 monitors in the last two years to 30,000 monitors in January - February 2003. We expect that this figure to increase further to 1,00,000 monitors by 2004.
We had predicted two years ago that the sales for LCD monitors would increase manifold," said Sunil Sinha, Chief Executive, Sharp Business Systems India Ltd.
Sharp Business Systems showcased its range of futuristic products in Bangalore on March 7 and 8, 2003 under the theme 'Crystal Clear City-Sharp's World of LCD'. The company also unveiled its latest LCD products for the year at the exhibition.
The company also launched two new projectors at this event, simultaneously to coincide with their worldwide launch.
"We expect the projector business to be a high growth segment as it is expected to grow by least 25 to 30 percent, while the digital copier/printer segment is expected to grow at 13 percent. The LCD monitor segment is expected to witness a 428 percent growth," said T Mizuta, MD, Sharp Business Systems.
"The company's product portfolio in India includes digital copiers/ printers, facsimile machines, multi-media projectors and LCD monitors. While digital copiers/ printers contribute 50 percent of the total turnover, facsimile machines contribute 20 percent, projectors 25 percent and LCD monitors contribute five percent to the turnover," he added.
Outlining the future plans of the company, Sinha said, "The company has 13 regional offices and over 200 dealers spread across the country. We plan to increase the number of our dealers by 25 percent by the end of the financial year. We also envisage that our turnover will double to Rs 200 crore in the next two years."
