Now phone users will not have to keep their phone engaged while surfing the
net. Now they will be able to both chat and surf the net together on the same
telephone instrument!
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), for the convenience of its subscribers, is
beginning a service called Direct Internet Access Service (DIAS) from next month
onwards. NL Sahi, Chief GM, Madhya Pradesh Telecom Circle, said that DIAS will
allow a subscriber to both chat and surf the net on the same telephone
instrument. This way, subscribers will now be rid of the problem of keeping
their phone engaged while surfing the net and not being able to talk to anyone
on the phone.
Now, if the need arises, any subscriber will be able to use his or her phone
to either make a call or receive incoming calls.
Sahi added that BSNL had increased the scope of ‘Sancharnet’, because of
which the temporary stay on giving more Internet connections to subscribers, is
being lifted from next month onwards.
BSNL will soon be in a position to release fresh Internet connections by next
month. The ban on new Internet connections had to be enforced from July 10,
2001, when the main server of BSNL had reached full capacity.
Speaking on the sidelines on the launch of BSNL mobile services, Sahi
clarified that the process of acquiring the requisite equipment is almost 90
percent over and are now being put into place and the systems given a thorough
testing. He added that BSNL was working towards a launch date for its mobile
services sometime early next month.
