New Update
Bengal IT Traders Organization (NBITO) has recently finalised its
proposal for holding its annual IT trade fair to be held in February
next year with the objective of maximising trade in the north Bengal
area. lang="en-IN">
Well
placed
sources in NITO said that the association is planning to hold
the IT expo in a big scale from February 17 to 20, repeating its
success of the last expo held earlier this year. Also, after
finalising its dates, NBITO is soon expected to send out
communications to the vendors and potential sponsors for the fair.
However, the association is keen on keeping out the national
distributors from participating in the event. lang="en-IN">
An
Expo
Committee has already been selected with Sankar Dhar of Protech
Computers appointed as Chairman of the committee. Also, various
sub-committees have been formed to coordinate and arrange the event.
Recently, after its last AGM, Kamal Saha from Nitai Computers has
been appointed as the Secretary for the association. Speaking over
the plans, Dhar said, “Like the previous time, this time too we are
targeting at large scale vendor participation and are offering low
budget stalls to enhance dealer participation in the region.” lang="en-IN">
“ style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"> size="3">However,
this time, we are planning to do something innovative in our approach
and are deliberating over this. Soon, we will be rolling out the
complete event plan for the expo,” he added. Last time, in the 8 face="Times New Roman, serif">th face="Times New Roman, serif">
expo conducted by NBITO in association with Kaleidoscope, an event
management company, the association put up a brave show with 103
stalls including pavilions and dedicated vendor showcase areas. “In
terms of the budget we are planning to take it up by 40 percent this
time to Rs 14 lakh and expect to raise the stall count to atleast
144. The venue will remain the same at Staduim Mela Ground in the
city,” Dhar concluded. lang="en-IN">
The
Siliguri-based
association has been active in the region with
exhibitions and channel communications since its inception in mid
2009 emerging out of the IT Forum based out of the same area.
Presently, in Siliguri, the SOHO segment accounts for about 35
percent of the sales with the enterprise and SMB segment accounting
for 20 percent each and the defence segment taking the rest of the
share. Through the expo, NITO is planning to tap in these market
potentials arising from these segments.
