boAt enters dashcam segment with Hive series
boAt has announced its entry into the dashcam category with the launch of the Hive Dashcam series, marking an expansion beyond its core portfolio of audio and wearable products. The move addresses growing concerns around road safety, legal disputes, and insurance claims on Indian roads, where the lack of visual evidence often complicates incident resolution.
The Hive Dashcam series is designed for everyday driving scenarios, ranging from daily commutes and school runs to long-distance travel and commercial use.
New category marks portfolio expansion
Commenting on the company’s move into a new segment, Gaurav Nayyar, CEO, boAt, said the dashcam category aligns with the brand’s broader strategy of building practical consumer technology. He noted that increasing road complexity in India has made dashcams a functional requirement rather than an optional accessory.
The Hive series represents boAt’s first foray into automotive safety products.
Three models targeting different user needs
The Hive Dashcam lineup includes three models, each aimed at a distinct segment of drivers.
The Hive Dashcam F1 serves as the flagship model, offering dual-channel recording with 4K Ultra HD front capture and 1080p Full HD rear recording. It includes advanced driver assistance features such as lane departure and forward collision alerts, along with built-in GPS, voice control, and Wi-Fi app connectivity.
The Hive Dashcam M1 is positioned as a mid-range option, featuring 2K QHD recording through a 140-degree wide-angle lens. It supports GPS-based speed and route tracking, collision detection through a G-sensor, and expandable storage of up to 512GB.
The Hive Dashcam E1 is designed for daily urban use, including private cars, taxis, and commercial vehicles. It offers 1296p HD recording, loop recording, automatic emergency triggers, compact installation, and smartphone app support via built-in Wi-Fi.
Focus on low-light clarity and road coverage
All models in the Hive Dashcam series are powered by Sony STARVIS sensors, designed to maintain clarity in low-light and high-glare conditions. According to the company, this ensures visibility of key road details such as license plates and vehicle movement across varied lighting environments.
Designed to support legal and insurance clarity
The Hive Dashcam series is positioned as a tool for recording incidents and providing visual evidence during accidents, disputes, or insurance claims. Features such as G-sensor-based emergency recording, parking surveillance through motion detection, onboard microSD storage, and optional cloud integration extend protection even when vehicles are unattended.
With its entry into the dashcam segment, boAt signals a broader push into safety-oriented technology, addressing real-world challenges faced by drivers on Indian roads.
