NASSCOM to hold IT User Awards in association with economictimes.com

NASSCOM, the apex body of software and services sector, and economictimes.com, an online financial portal, have come together to organize 'India: IT User Seminar and Awards' on July 29, 2003 in Mumbai. Based on the theme of 'Driving Business Value through IT', the awards are aimed towards highlighting the best practices in the domestic industry, as well as recognize those organizations, which are making the most efficient use of IT in India. A one-day focused seminar will also be held by NASSCOM, in order to share best practices and discuss actual issues that are restricting the growth of IT in the domestic market. RBI Governor Bimal Jalan would be the chief guest for the event.

The award ceremony will for the first time in the country, honor IT users across all major industry verticals including healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, banking and finance, energy and utilities, retail, government, telecom, education and NGOs. The awards are intended towards institutionalizing, a platform to felicitate the forerunners of change among the Indian IT user community. The award will be assessed based on the following parameters: IT readiness, IT infrastructure, People, Policy, Process and IT competence and benefits.

Preceding the awards ceremony, will be a focused seminar targeted at CXOs in the user community. The seminar will provide a common platform for IT companies and user industries across verticals, to interact and share best practices on technologies and various processes of IT usage and address the challenges and opportunities that exist in the domestic IT market. The event will bring together industry CEOs, key decisions makers and IT managers in the industry, public sector and government departments, that are utilizing IT effectively across the organization to achieve their business goals.

Some of the focused sessions that will be conducted at the seminar include, Driving Business Value through IT, IT Outsourcing Implementation and Best Practices, IT Infrastructures and Services, Enterprise IT Architecture & Business Intelligence, Application integration and Web services, and Challenges of CRM and Business Continuity Planning.

The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion on 'IT & Today's Business Challenges', where eminent industry personalities will discuss the impact of Indian IT industry in the current geo-political and global business environment.
