Nagraj Prabhu elected as the president of Goa IT Association

Goa IT Business Association (GIBA), the only IT association in the state has elected a new executive committee for the period 2015 – 2017. Nagraj Prabhu, owner of Yash IT Solutions, has been elected as a president of GIBA. The other office bearers include Dhiren Mehta (Vice president), Raaj Chodankar (Secretary), Shrivallabh Sardessai (Joint Secretary) and Mandar Mapsekar (treasurer).

After taking the new responsibility, Nagraj Prabhu said that bringing unity among all the members of the association would be the top priority of the new team. He said that the GIBA would work towards filling the leakages in the entire channel system.

“Our first task will be bringing all the members on a common platform of understanding and filling the leakages in the channel business”, Prabhu said.

He said that effective implementation of entry tax on ICT products and tax would be critical issues on which GIBA would focus on. Prabhu also said that the new team will focus on increasing the membership strength of the association.

“Presently GIBA has 85 members who cover nearly 30 percent ICT business in Goa whereas the total number of resellers in the state is nearly 200 partners. We are aiming to increase the membership upto 150 members in order to increase business share of GIBA members to 100 percent till next fiscal”, he said.

This year the elections were done on the basis of panels. The Presidential candidate was the head of the panel and the name of the panel was the first name of the candidate.  Nagraj's Panel won over Sanjay Chopra's panel panel by 8 votes. Nagraj's Panel got 26 votes where Sanjay Chopra's panel got 18 votes. Sanjay Chopra’s team consisted of Narendra Ramchandani, Vinay Mhambre, Ashley Delaney and Amar Cacode.

The winning team is all set to make a lot of changes in GIBA starting with making of a proper constitution, an android app for all members to communicate with each other, compulsory registration with Government department for starting any IT business in Goa and many more.
