MTI partners with SRT to tap global WiMax market

Microelectronics Technology Inc (MTI) announced that the
company will cooperate with SR Telecom Inc (SRT) to tap the WiMax market by
developing advanced WiMax access radio systems. The two companies will
co-develop advanced WiMax access radio solution for both subscribers stations
and base station radio units. Patrick Wang, Chairman and CEO, MTI, indicated
that MTI has cooperated with SRT before for the radio products and SRT is one of
worldwide leading companies in OFDM technology. This time, the two companies
take their cooperation further to WiMax technology. MTI plans to start shipping
the product by the end of this year. Recently MTI adjusted its product portfolio
and until the first quarter of this year, radio products accounted for 40
percent to 50 percent of MTI's revenues, low noise blockers (LNBs) accounted
about 30 percent, and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) accounted about 10
percent.
