recently unveiled its latest
products during the Taiwan External Trade Development Council
(TAITRA) event as a part of its 'Taiwan Excellence Campaign' in
India. Eric Kuo, GM, MSI India unveiled MSI WindPad 110W 10'' tablet,
which was launched in Taiwan during the Computex Expo 2011. MSI also
displayed its various innovative new products like GX780 (part of its
latest gaming series) and N580GTX Lightning Xtreme (the world's
most powerful graphics card).
Launching the campaign,
Malaika Arora Khan, displayed Taiwan Excellence ICT kit, comprising
an MSI laptop. Commenting on this
occasion, Kuo said, “India, currently, is just about 2% of our
global revenues. Going ahead, we see a huge opportunity here and we
would bring in the latest technology through our products. Our aim is
to be among the top 3 brands in India, in the next 2 years and for
that we need to have monthly sale of 20,000-30,000 units, so I would
say that it is the sales target that we have to set for ourselves to
achieve in the next 2 years.” The company, which also manufactures
motherboards and graphics cards, will spend about 1 million on
marketing and advertising this year. He further said that MSI will be
soon introducing 2 new series of tablets in India by early July.
"We are fairly new in the notebook
category and we are working on increasing our brand recall in this
segment. We don't want to compete only on the basis of price, but we
also want to be known for quality and technology of our products. We
are also aggressively looking to expand our operations in India. By
year-end, we are looking at doubling our headcount and setting up
more offices. We will also strengthen our distribution channels for
all products," Kuo added.
