Mozilla Kolkata Community to host event for programmers, designers

Mozilla Kolkata Community in association with Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (BESU), Shibpur is hosting "ProgramIIEST", a symposium of programmers and designers, powered by Mozilla, in March, 2014 at BESU, Shibpur.

This event will see participants from the coding, designing and programming arena. The objective is to make the city's witty tech wizards come on a common platform to discuss new ideas and answer queries. Anyone from students to professionals can attend the fest by taking some time off their daily life to have some fun and possibly win some great prizes. The fest is intended for all those who consider themselves a programmer. The registration process for the event in ongoing.

There will five contests and workshops as well. Programming in Rust is based on general purpose, multi-paradigm, compiled programming language. In Code Optimization where participants are required to write some section of codes with optimized time and memory utilization as well as lowest size of source code. Contenders have to build new web pages in Persona Hack.

In Obfuscated Programming, participants will be provided with obfuscated source code and they would need to predict output. In Open Badge Design Hack the participants will create new badges with the Open Badge free software. The top three performers of each contest will be given due recognition. They will receive Flipkart gift vouchers. The works of the winning teams should satisfy some basic criteria to qualify for prizes.
