Motorola Inc annoÂuÂnÂced that it has signed a MemoÂranÂdum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai, to
strengthen its research and developÂment (R&D) initiatives in India and
support its vision for the emerging markets.
This MoU will allow Motorola researchers to work with the institute's
faculty to boost R&D initiaÂtives on application of next generation
technoloÂgies.

Firdose Vandrevala, ChairÂman, Motorola India and Corporate VP, Motorola
Inc, said, “Motorola and IIT Mumbai are renowned for best-in-class talent and
skills and have led techÂnological change in their respective areas. This partÂnership
will be mutually fulfilling and will enrich our vision and execution of seamless
mobility.”
Prof Ashok Misra, DirecÂtor, IIT Mumbai said, “We believe our associaÂtion
with Motorola will give our students exposure to real life technical projects
and provide them with the right platform to harness their knowledge and
skills.”
Motorola and IIT MumÂbai have also set up a council to enhance/align
long-range research betÂween the InstiÂtute and Motorola, besides training
students of IIT Mumbai. In the past, MotoÂrola has undertaken joint R&D
initiatives with other IITs like IIT Chennai and the Indian Institute of Science
(IISc), Bangalore.
