At a time when the Indian telecom scenario is exper-iencing an exponential
growth, hi-tech gadgetry and services are the focus of Mobile Expo 2005, the
first exhibition on the cellular, communication and equipment industry in India.
The expo is being organized from February 9 - February 12, 2005.
"The primary objective of this expo is to familiarize the con-sumer with
cutting edge techno-logical evolution that this indus-try has undergone. Indian
tele-com arena has seen trem-endous growth and we are likely to see a similar
performance for the coming months. Exposi-tions like this will go a long way in
spreading technological temper among the consumers of this industry," said
Pankaj Mohindroo, President, Indian Cellular Association (ICA).
Product from almost all maj-or brands like Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson and
Philips are being showcased in the expo. Keep-ing an eye on the business con-sumer,
Nokia launched three products. Bedazzled by its touch-screen capabilities-Phi-lips
stall at the expo attracted good crowd for its 755 touch-screen mobile, which
the comp-any is offering at a price of Rs 10,990. Also on display is the
long-battery life Xenium range of phones. Other global brands like Haier, Bird,
Samsung and LG too launched their latest pro-ducts at the fair. Interestingly,
Chinese home appliance brand—Haier has just ventured into the Indian mobile
segment showcased its set of products. In their bid to showcase their offerings
and various schemes in the market, service providers like Reliance, Airtel and
Hutch too were busy attracting consumers towards their set of offers and
arrangements with vendors like Samsung and LG.
