MM9 takes to retail in Gurgaon

Information Technology Pvt Ltd. "The USP of Uncle Pam's will be
atten-dants, up-to-date on the tech-nology they are selling, and the hands-on
experience it will offer to the walk-ins," he elaborated.

Frustrated with the efforts Chawla had to put in to identify the right
product and under-stand how to use it when he was hunting for a PDA, he deci-ded
on opening a retail show-room focusing on technology experience, firsthand. The
shoppe manned by people who understand technology will draw the walk-ins,
believes Chawla. The outlet will stock latest in gadgets apart from the HP range
of products.

While he is busy working on the product line for the retail project it is
business as usual at MM9 Information Techno-logy. The company is into office
automation, assembling for bulk orders and system integ-ration and networking.
It has grown 100 percent year-on-year clocking Rs 20 crore in the last fiscal.
"However, this year our projections are a modest 30 percent growth over
last year. We are concentrating our ener-gies on retail expansion," said
Chawla.

A statistician by education Chawla, turned entrepreneur in 1995 with MM9
Information Technology and entered IT industry on the marketing side, at a time
when the desktop publishing concept was just picking up. Today with a team of
over 60 the company has in place a system that neatly coordinates the whole
process right from lead capture to delivery. "We have a branch in Delhi
which looks after the government vertical right from tenders to service delivery
while the rest of the business is handled from Gurgaon and largely caters to the
growing market in Gurgaon," elaborated Chawla.
