MiTAC's brand 'Mio' was the third biggest GPS provider in Europe in
Q2, according to Canalys and IDC. In Q4, MiTAC's hand-held device will still
hold a great projection. MiTAC started with desktop computers and its PDA became
one of the top three in the world. Currently, besides desktops and server
related businesses, the major driving force was hand-held devices. The
development of GPS includes both OEM business and self-own brand markets. The
shipment of Q4 can reach 1.5 million units. Annual GPS shipment can be up at
four million. According to Canalys statistics in Q3, Mio was ranked as number
three in hand-held GPS products in Europe with marketshare of nine percent.
Besides, IDC indicated that Mio PDA could take 9.5 percent marketshare with
growth of five percent over Q2. MiTAC indicated that GPS and GPS PDA products
would continue to be the main products next year. The target market will still
focus on northern America to establish over 3,000 selling points.
