MIDC launches second phase of Pune's IT park

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has officially launched the second phase of the Pune Infotech Park at Hinjewadi, Pune at the NASSCOM 2001 conference. The second phase that is spread over 600 acres of undulating hilly terrain consists of a 50-acre golf course and a water promenade. The park is expected to be ready in the next 18 months.

MIDC has already received bookings for 70 acres from Infosys Technologies Ltd. A MOU to this effect was signed between Jayant Kawale, CEO, MIDC and Nandan Nilankeni, MD, Infosys. Speaking at the launch of the second phase, Dr Patangrao Kadam, Minister for industries and water conservation, stated that the state government was totally committed to providing IT infrastructure of international standards.

The first phase of the Pune IT Park is spread over 200 acres. Residents include Tata Technologies, Infosys, Wipro and Geometric amongst others. MIDC has built more than 217 parks of which 18 are dedicated to IT.
