Microsoft to launch Windows 10 soon

Windows operating system, Windows 10 will be rolled out this summer. The OS would be launched in 190 countries and 111 languages around the world.

The announcement was made by Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Windows, Microsoft at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) summit in China. Last year, Microsoft announced that it will skip Windows 9 and Windows 10 was announced to be launched in 2015.

Windows 10 delivers new capabilities that will enable hardware and device manufacturers to create technology, devices and experience for customers around the world including Windows Hello. It will provide instant access to a person’s device through biometric authentication using their face, iris or fingerprint to unlock their device and services.

Windows 10 was unveiled on stage for the first time via a Lenovo ThinkPad YOGA 15.

Microsoft has also inked strategic partnerships with global companies across China including Lenovo, Tencent Holdings and Qihu 360 in order to help hundreds of millions of Windows customers in China to upgrade to Windows 10 and to boost the adoption globally.

The free upgrade for Windows 10 will be available to the customers running Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1.

Lenovo will be offering Windows 10 upgrade services at 2,500 service centers and retail stores in China along with selling Windows phones via China Mobile.

Tencent said it will give free upgrade to its customers on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 in China.

Tencent will launch its QQ app and many of its popular PC games including League of Legends, Cross Fire and Dungeon & Fighter for Windows 10.

Internet security company, Qihu 360 will offer Windows 10 for free to their customers in China. Xiaomi, will be setting a group of Mi4 power users with a problem to help test Windows 10. They will a have opportunity to download the Windows 10 technical preview, install it and provide their feedback to Microsoft.
