Microsoft launches Office 365 in India

has launched Microsoft Office 365 in India, which

would enable enterprises in the country to access solutions such as

email and other collaboration tools on a pay-per-use model. Microsoft

plans to charge $2 for basic email, and $27

per-user-per-month for Office 365, depending on which services are

included.

This is the

first time customers here can avail of Microsoft Office-including Word,

Excel,

PowerPoint, email and other software, on a subscription basis off the

cloud. Since

the solutions are cloud-based, users can access their mails and files

through a variety of devices like desktops, laptops and mobile phones

and work on projects while on the move.

Speaking on

this occasion Sanket Akerkar, MD, Microsoft Corporation India said,

“The launch is a part of Microsoft's comprehensive cloud services

strategy. Microsoft Office 365, provides all of the familiar

enterprise class productivity solutions on a flexible usage and

payment model, delivering streamlined communication with high

availability, comprehensive security and simplified IT management.”

The offering

will allow SMBs with 25 users or less, to get full range of

productivity, communication and collaboration at approximately $6

per-user-per-month. This plan includes Office Web Apps, Exchange

Online, SharePoint Online and Lync Online.

Over the

last

45 days, more than 12,000 organizations, have signed up for Office

365 trials. Globally over 2,00,000 customers have signed up, creating

one of Microsoft's largest beta programs for businesses.

Microsoft

has

a host of other cloud deployments running successfully in India.

These include the likes of Adhunik Group, Godrej Industries, Modern

School-Vasant Vihar Delhi, Synapse, NECX, Dabur, ACME among others

running on the Azure and VPOS platform.
