Microsoft launches new edition of firewall offering

Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd has announced the availab-ility of the
Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 Enterprise Edition.
According to the company, in addition to en-hanced manageability, scala-bility
and availability features to better maximize the returns on security
infrastructure investments, the product offers improved authentication servi-ces;
strengthened data protec-tion features and allows faster remote access to
information. ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition is available through all
Microsoft channel partners.

ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition provides protection for critical business
scenarios, such as more-secure remote access to Microsoft Exchange servers
through Outlook Web Access and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. ISA Server 2004
Enterprise Edition also enables centralized management, enforce consistent
firewall policies across the enterprise, increase speed and availability of Web
content, balance network resources, centralize monitoring and storage and
scalability through unlimited SMP and NLB.

Commenting on the launch, Saurabh Misra, Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft
India said, "Historically, firewalls have been very difficult to configure
and implement. ISA Server 2004's user interface and wizard functionality
allows companies that lack dedicated security resources to easily create a
locked down, hardened infrastructure that protects against the new generation of
threats. Microsoft has done for firewall technology what previously only existed
in hardware-based firewalls."

"Manageability is the other big thing. Whether a business has 50,
hundreds or thousands of ISA Servers, they can manage the entire environ-ment
more easily with the enterprise edition," he added.
