Microsoft launches Lumia smartphones with built in Windows 10

Expanding its product portfolio in the Lumia series, Microsoft has launched Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, claimed to be the first Lumia phones that come with pre-loaded with Windows 10, in India. Designed for Microsoft fans, Finance and IT executives, the new offerings have inbuilt features like Cortana, Windows Hello beta and Continuum. With the launch of the two products, Microsoft intends to grab substantial market share in the high end smartphone segment.

Unveiling the marketing strategy, Raghuvesh Sarup, Director, Marketing, Microsoft Mobile Devices, India, said, “We will have a multi-channel or multi-channel strategy to position Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL in the Indian market. These smartphones are primarily meant for Microsoft fans, Finance and IT professionals. We are focusing on the enterprise segment and direct marketing our offerings to CIOs, CTOs and CTOs. Secondly, we are making the products available in the market through Microsoft Priority Resellers. Third and last platform is digital where we have created a stall on Amazon.  So, we seek consumers to choose the market place as per their convenience.”

The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are priced at INR 43,699 and INR 49,399 respectively. Talking about the price factor, Sarup said that these offerings were not mass products but the class products. Designed specifically for the high end segment, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL address the need for seamless connectivity across the devices and experience Microsoft’s some of the best in class technology innovations.

“The core thought behind building devices such as the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL was to offer customers a seamless experience across their Windows devices and to ensure that they were empowered with the most productive smartphones. The Windows 10 features allow people to use their phone like a PC by connecting it to a monitor and transforming it for larger-screen entertainment, or adding a keyboard and mouse to work like a PC with Windows 10 apps like Microsoft Office, while simultaneously taking calls or performing other tasks.The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL come packed with innovative features such as Cortana, Windows Hello beta for Lumia and Continuum for phones, taking innovation to the next level”, Sarup said.
