Micromax broadens its avenue, enters TV segment

The company unveiled a new range of LED TVs, home theatres, 3D Blu Ray and SMART Stick and the Android dongle, which will make TV viewing a smart experience

Indian handset manufacturing brand Micromax, is all set to revamp its image. The 3rd largest mobile brand in India, Micromax recently announced its foray into the home entertainment sector by unveiling a new range of LED TVs, home theatres, 3D Blu Ray and SMART Stick and the Android dongle, which will make TV viewing a smart experience. What more, the company also roped in bollywood star Genelia D'Souza to unveil the products.

With this launch, Micromax aims to become the new age screen partner for consumers; be it phones, tablets or televisions. The LED TVs range from 24" to 55" and is competitively priced between Rs 15,990 and Rs 1,29,990. All the six models launched are powered by AVEA (Audio Visual Entertainment Architecture) and boast of finest picture quality, cinematic sound and inbuilt powerful sound system.

Some of the key highlights of the TVs are that it offers full HD resolution with HDMI and USB connectivity. It also aids in low power consumption, digital audio output and zero bright dots panel.

Commenting on the launch Rajesh Agarwal, MD and co-founder, Micromax said, "Micromax is increasingly focusing on the smartdevices and has introduced a series of Adroid powered devices in the screen range of 5" to 10". As we move forward, we want to be the screen partners for our consumers, no matter what the size is. This was a natural progression to hence foray into televisions."

Adding to this Sunil Dutt Sharma, business head, consumer electronics, Micromax said, "We plan to introduce our offerings initially in nine key states, viz- Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat. We will deploy a two-tier distribution channel which will help us to reach out to 170 cities and build a strong consumer connect."
