Micarosoft bullish on Software Asset Management

Redmond based Microsoft is betting high on Soft-ware Asset Management (SAM)
and is devising national stra-tegy to increase adoption of Software Asset
Management in organizations within all market segments.

"This is a big opportunity for all of us and it is not just an issue of
Microsoft but the whole software industry itself. As of now, there are lot of IT
companies, which are not fully equipped to maximize the full potential of their
resources. Proper Software Asset Mana-gement helps them do that in an organized
way," said Punit Vanvaria, Manager (Business Development), at Microsoft.

As part of its efforts to propagate the benefits of SAM, the company is
organizing different kinds of events for the end-user as well as its reseller
community. "As it is an issue of change in perception towards maximizing
the use of IT infrastructure, everybody needs to be educated on this front. We
have already covered major cities like Delhi, Banga-lore, Chennai, Hyderabad,
Pune and Ahmedabad and now we are going to Kolkota as well. Within the next six
months, we will be doing 20 more such events within India," he added.
