While, this is far from being a permanent solution,
resellers are moving towards hiding their usual way of doing business, in order
to fool the MCD staff
Disturbed by the ongoing shop — sealing activity by
Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the reseller comÂmunity in the affected areas
is a confused lot. And a lot of these small resellers are now operating under
strange conditions.
“We do not know when these MCD officials will come and
seal our shops. So we have closed our offices for the time being, but still we
continue to operate in a different way. We open our shops for about two to three
hours, whenever we have a customer or a distributor coming to us. We do not have
any option in front of us. The whole community is having a bad time,” informs
a reseller or IT peripherals from Pitampura area on conditions of anonymity.
Similarly,
there are a lot of resellers who are opening their shops for two or three hours
in a day and close it as soon as they feel the heat of MCD officials. “We are
even telling our distributor friends to come at a time when the shop is open,
otherwise they would feel that we have closed the organization. This whole
process of sealing has affected our business badly, but we hope that soon we
will have a solution to this problem,” adds another reseller from Karol Bagh
area.
In most of the areas like Pitampura, Najafgarh and Rohini,
there are many small resellers who have taken to operating in such masked
manner. The objective of such players is to continue their business in a partial
manner and at the same time, avoid being spotted by MCD officials.
On the other hand, experts in the IT channel believe that
this issue of sealing shops being operated from residential areas will have
mixed repercussions for the overall industry. “I agree that this is creating a
bad situation for us all in the industry. However, at the same time this will
weed out players who are not involved in serious business activity. By the time
this process is over, we will have only serious and reliable players left in the
market,” informed a prominent channel partner from New Delhi.
