MAHE and Hughes to deliver MBA via satellite

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in association with New Delhi based Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd (HECL), a satellite broadband service provider, has launched a new program - MBA in financial services. This 12-month program will be delivered over HECL's interactive DirecWay Global Education platform. The course will be conducted both by Professors from MAHE and Practising managers from the industry, over DiRECWAY Global Education (the brand under which HECL offers interactive satellite education services) from Bangalore studio across 33 classrooms across 23 cities in India.

This program will cover financial markets, linkages between domestic and global savings and investments, consumer finance, credit rating, valuation models, mergers and acquisitions, project financing and so on. The program is divided into two semesters and comprises of five modules in each semester. The classes will be held twice a week in the evenings to suit the requirements of working people.

The DirecWay Global Education platform being used for the programs will allow a single instructor sitting at the studio to address hundreds of students located at scores of locations. Essentially, the combination of video, voice and data is beamed out (broadcast) to all the classrooms/students simultaneously using satellite-based systems.

The students can interact with the instructor on voice & data on a real time, online basis using a high-end multimedia personal computer as the primary interface. The technology platform is supplemented by the DirecWay Global Education website through which study material and reference material can be made available to students.
