Logitech takes up government projects

Logitech has been aggressively shifting its focus from wired to wireless category of IT products. Currently, the wireless market caters to 10% of the total IT peripherals. The company feels that this shift will be 50:50 by the end of FY13.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the latest addition to the family-Logitech Touch wireless mouse M600, Subrotah Biswas, country manager, Logitech India and South West Asia, said, "We are building our strategy around the growing demand of wireless products like notebook, smartphones, and tablets. Additionally, we have also identified top 37 cities for the growth of wireless products."

Besides evolving the wireless category with new product range, the company has also started focusing on the government project. Biswas said, "We are participating in UIDAI and National People Registration projects. We are supplying Pro 9000 high-definition webcam for data capturing for UIDAI project. Our webcams were the only ones going through technical qualification. Moreover, we have also bagged orders from Goa government for mice and keyboards, and many educational projects are in the pipeline."

The company has also started expanding its local team. Till last year, Logitech had 35 people and now it has grown by 100 people. The other area where company is putting its investments are large multi-branded stores through franchise and online models.
