Logitech has introduced the MX series of Performance Mice in India. It comes with the MX Optical Engine, which enables the mice to capture upto 4.7 megapixels of surface tracking information every second. The product line is priced between Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.

As a part of its strategy to increase penetration in the Indian market, Logitech is increasing the number of outlets in its retail network and is also going in for in-store branding.

Marcel Stolk, Senior VP (Worldwide Sales and Marketing), Logitech, while addressing a media briefing, clarified that though the price range was on the higher side, it would appeal to a section of the audience. "However, we are not looking at 100 percent penetration with the product, even in a not-so-price-sensitive market like the US," he added.

Answering a question from CNS, Gavin Wu, VP (Sales and Marketing), Logitech (Asia Pacific), said that even four years back piracy was almost 100 percent - which meant for every original Logitech product there was one fake or illegal product available in the market. "But thanks to MAIT and interference by the local police and law enforcement authorities, piracy is at a check today, at least definitely where Logitech products are concerned. The Quality Brands Protection Committee in China is also working in this matter," he added. "Logitech products brought in the grey market will not be serviced," he summed up.

The line-up includes: MX700 cordless optical mouse, MX500 optical mouse and MX300 optical mouse. The MX series is compatible with Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and XP versions, as also Apple's Mac OS 8.6 and higher, including Mac OS X.
