Life Line to Business (LL2B.Com Pvt Ltd), Chennai-based ICT orga-nization
specializing in e-governance, has designed an Integrated e-Platform tool for the
Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Pondicherry, in
consultation with the CII, Pondicherry and Association of Small Industries of
Union Territory of Pondicherry.
Set up under the Industrial Guidance Bureau of the Dire-ctorate, this tool is
designed on Linux platform, which can be used by any community users to deal
with multiple agencies for simultaneous review and action. It would connect 21
departments including munici-palities, commune panchayats on a simple
LAN/dial-up, for online and offline working.
VDG Krishnan, Director, LL2B.Com said it is a web-enabled solution developed
for creating a paperless office and managing records digitally. The integrated
e-Platform would support the Department of Industries in its process such
providing permission for set-ting up an industry, to obtain license to commence
produ-ction for new manufacturing units among others, electroni-cally. It
maintains digital records at all stages.
It works like this-an app-licant who wish to set-up an industrial unit in
Pondicherry can log on to the government website and post their app-lication
digitally, providing supporting documents. And the clearance period for
acce-pting or rejecting a proposal is 30 days. The applicant would receive the
acknowledgement, rejection/permission notice online.
But sources from Pondic-herry government informed that this particular
system, even though flagged-off last month, has not started fun-ctioning fully.
"This system will take up only in a slow pace. We need to train the users,
mainly the applicants and department functiona-ries at various stages on the use
and usage of this system. It is not an easy task ahead," sources informed.
