LG launches new range of peripherals and home theatre systems

LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd (LGEIL), a company dealing in the display and optical storage devices segment, has announced the launch of a host of new peripheral products, which include DVD writer, Combo Drive and Optical Mouse. 

LG also announced the launch of DVD based home theatre systems. In the Optical Storage Device (OSD) segment, LG has launched its new GMA-4020B multi writeable DVD drive and GCC-5240P combo drive. The DVD drive enables the users to write up to 4.7 GB of information to DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R media. 

In addition this highly versatile drive can also write to CD-RW and CD-R media and is fully compatible with DVD players. It is priced at Rs 25,000.

The combo drive GCC-5240P combines both CD-R/RW and DVD ROM drive functions into one drive. It is equipped with 2MB of buffer memory, which has buffer under run proof technology. It provides the user, a whole multimedia solution with highest reliability technology for CD-R/RW and high resolution for DVD movies. 

The combo drive is priced at Rs 21,000 LG has expanded its range of product offerings by launching a range of Optical mouse, under the brand name 'LG Opti Mouse'. The LG Opti Mouse is available in two models - L112 and L212. The L212 model is available in two colors - red and ivory. 

The main USP of the LG Opti Mouse is that the Optical sensor is positioned slightly above the vertical center. This helps the cursor in reaching across the display screen with a relatively lower angular movement, enabling the user to maneuver across the screen with greater ease.

The new products would be available through LG's existing channel partners. The LG Opti mouse would also be bundled with 'My PC' range of computers from LG.

LG Electronics also introduced a new concept of DVD based home theatre systems. The USP of this system is its Digital Amplifier (Class D amplifier), which is capable of delivering highest efficiency and sound clarity as they give one percent sound distortion. 

For the first time in India, LG would be aggressively promoting six-in-one system that is capable of playing DVDs, VCDs, MP3, Audio CD, cassette and the radio. The system would come with five speakers for true home theatre effect. The company is using the platform of 'true sound' for these audios as they deliver the clearest reproduction of sound. The company has three models in this category within a price range of Rs 22,000- Rs 28,000.

These models would be available all over the country from February 2003 onwards. LG is targeting sales of 30,000 units in DVD audios in the year 2003.
