Lenovo targets SMB with Thinkpad R50e

As part of an intensive initiative to increase notebook adoption among SMB
and SOHO uses, Lenovo today announced the launch of its ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1.
The Centrino based ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1 has been introduced into the Indian
market as part of Lenovo's overall business strategy to build significant
mindshare and presence in the Indian small and medium enterprise segment. The
ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1 comes with integrated ThinkVantage technologies like
rescue and recovery, access connections and system migration assistant that
greatly enhance small business productivity and employee utilization and
efficiency. Attractively priced at Rs 42, 490, the notebook is targeted at sales
people, the student community and the home user.

"As part of our commitment to the SMB and SOHO segments, we recently
opened five new ThinkPad service centres and 10 drop-off and pick up centres in
upcountry locations in May this year. This launch of the ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1
marks a further commitment of our intention to also provide our SMB and SOHO
customers with the right products delivered to meet their specific requirements
and backed by a comprehensive support network," said Neeraj Sharma,
Managing Director, Lenovo South Asia.

The ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1 is powered by an Intel Pentium M processor 715 with
two MB L2 cache. It is also equipped with 256 MB DDR SDRAM memory upgradeable to
two GB and a 40GB HDD. The ThinkPad R50e 1834EQ1 has Intel Extreme graphics
integrated into it with a 15" TFT screen monitor which provides wide
horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 170 degrees. The notebook has a
six-cell battery, which provides up to four hours of battery life. Outfitted
with two USB and a parallel port, the notebook also has provisions for a PC card
slot and comes with an ergonomic keyboard and a TrackPoint pointing devise for
easy navigation. The system has thick metal hinges that connect the core of the
base to the top cover giving it added durability. A ThinkLight keyboard light
located on the top edge of the display illuminates the keyboard to allow the
user to continue working even in low-light conditions.

The ThinkPad R50e series also provides a unique combination of
ThinkVantage(tm) Technologies. The access connection software makes switching
between wired and wireless networks seamless and trouble free. Another
innovative technology built into the ThinkPad R50e is the hard disk drive shock
absorber, which provides 30 percent more protection against drops and falls. The
rescue and recovery technology is an integrated application which provides a
suite of powerful tools that allows for back ups and file rescue.
