PC maker Lenovo has entered both the enterprise and consumer tablet market, with 3 offerings which include-IdeaPad Tablet K1 and A1 for consumers and the ThinkPad Tablet for business customers. According to the company, both the tablets ThinkPad feature the Android 3.1 platform, while the AI tablets feature the Android 2.3. Unveiling the tablets, Amar Babu, MD, Lenovo India said, "In the coming 3-4 years, it is expected that the tablet market will boom in India. Seeing the demand of the tablet series as extremely personal technology devices, we have launched a family of tablets that include entertainment friendly features for consumers, business friendly applications for enterprise users to boost productivity and enhance manageability capacity for IT managers or CIOs.
By the end of October, 2011, all our tablets will be available in the market. And, as part of the overall global strategy for the tablet market, we have decided to introduce more tablets of varying sizes and platforms over the next 6 months." According to Lenovo, all the three tablets feature NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processors that offer superior multitasking, faster web browsing with built-in Flash, console-quality gaming and low power consumption for improved battery life. The Android-powered tablets come with over 40 preloaded apps customized to the Indian users.
Customers will also have access to tested apps in the Lenovo App Shops and more than 2,50,000 apps in the Android Market. "As per our go-to-market strategy for the tablet series, first, we will be targeting our exclusive 700 retail stores across the nation for tablet distribution. Apart from the Lenovo exclusive stores, we will also distribute our tablets through our 2,500 plus channel partners. Seeing the huge benefi t for our channel partners, we have also organized training programs in 13 cities," said Rajiv Rao, director, SMB, Lenovo India.
