Putting a stop to the way banks communicate with their branches and offices through circulars is e-Circular. Laser Soft Infosystem Ltd, a Chennai based company has launched e-Circular, a product to ensure instant delivery of circulars from Head Office (in electronic form) to all the concerned branches/ offices which are connected.

Generally banks issue a number of circulars regularly, which may contain instructions, various information concerning bank's activities and achievements or even caution advises. This process entails huge expenditure for the bank, by means of paper cost, cost of man-hour spent on dispatch and postal expenditure. The product "eCircular" would provide an Intranet based solution for the bank, by which circulars can be accessed on the desktop PC electronically.

The system would provide a web-based interface to view circulars. Circulars can be searched subject wise, group wise, signatory wise, reference wise, issue wise, category wise, and index wise. Multilevel authorization and security features are provided in the product to restrict user access to circulars. The circulars are created and stored in PDF or Text format.

Provision has also been provided to scan and store old circulars. Added to that multilingual support has also been provided for regional language circulars.

This solution makes use of Bank's existing network infrastructure. The solution would be web-enabled and would use Wide Area Network that connects different branches and offices. The solution is based on Microsoft's Windows 2000-Advanced Server. Internet Information Server would host the Intranet Site, ASP for data capturing and processing, Oracle Server RDBMS for database management, and Adobe Acrobat Writer for circular creation. A separate module for user administration is developed using VB 6.0.

At the branches any existing Windows based PC with Microsoft IE 6.0 and above or Netscape Communicator 5.0 and above, can be used as client for browsing the circulars and other information that would be residing on the server.
