Kolkata-based Lakhotia Computer Center (LCC) Infotech
recently announced the launch of its own PC brand-LCC PC, as part of their
lateral expansion plan, has been a renowned name in IT training domain for the
past two decades. The company later on branched out into software development
and finally entered the hardware space. "We have inherited a brand name
which has been trusted in the IT domain for the past 21 years. With that
branding and credibility, we have decided to foray into the IT hardware
market," said Sidharth Lakhotia, CEO, LCC Infotech. "We saw a huge
potential in the Indian PC market and having done extensive homework in the last
five months, we have made our plan of action," he added.
LCC PC was launched in Bhubaneswar in the presence of
Suryanarayan Patra, Minister-IT, Orissa. Speaking on his decision to choose
Bhubaneswar as his launch pad, Lakhotia explained that through extensive market
research conducted by the company, they realized the growing potential of the
upcountry market. "Based on our market findings, we observed that the YoY
growth was highest in the upcountry markets, which is the latest hot spot for
growth and development in India. Its fast growth scopes are unlimited," he
opined. He added that Bhubaneswar is becoming the next IT destination in East
with more MNCs setting up their infrastructure in the city.
"Also, youth population, which is the highest consumer
of IT products and services, is highest in Bhubaneswar. In addition, we have a
very good franchisee network in Orissa. We have 32 training centers running in
the state covering all the districts. Therefore, our market knowledge in the
state is quite high. Thus, we decided to launch and establish our brand in
Orissa first," he explained.
LCC has taken a two-way distribution policy for its product range. The
company is planning to leverage on its existing franchisee network across India
to distribute its products. As per the strategy, LCC has identified certain
areas within the training center premises, which it will transform into display
areas for LCC PC range. "We already have an existing network in place, with
the 300 odd franchisees for our training centers across the country. We want to
capitalize on that set-up. The concept will provide us an automatic retail
opportunity," he informed.
