The 31st
Kolkata Book Fair venue, held recently in Kolkata, embraced technology with the
establishment of an IT Park inside the fair ground. With a total of thirty
stalls given by some prominent IT companies, the IT park proved to be a crowd
puller. Among the other companies those set up their stalls, the most prominent
were, Xenitis, Isyn, Chirag, Advance Management, Brainware, Arena Multimedia,
etc.

This particular IT park has
proven to be a very good platform for the exhibitors as they got an opportunity
to reach out directly to a large audience. The eleven-day fair not only pulled
crowd from the city but from upcountry places too, which is undoubtedly, the
most lucrative market for any IT company today.

Speaking to the spokesperson
of the three giants, Xenitis, Isyn and Chirag it was obvious that the main motto
behind putting up the stall is for promotional purpose and to address the
upcountry people whose footfall is counted to be the highest. “We have been
successful in our aim as we received a lot of enquiries from the people visiting
the fair from the upcountry localities. There were a number of spot bookings
too,” said a Xenitis spokesperson. Similar was the view of a Syntech
spokesperson who informed that a lot of enquiries came from students too,
especially those who visited from certain engineering or management colleges.

Overall, the entire idea of
setting up an IT park by the guild proved to be a winner, though some
participants pointed out rightly that the park area should have been of much
more carpet area to accommodate maximum visitors as well as more spacious for
proper display of the products.
