Kaspersky unveils 2013 edition

Kaspersky Lab announced the release of its new flagship consumer products—Kaspersky Internet Security—Premium Security Suite and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Essential Protection Solution at Kaspersky Lab India Partner Conference 2012 in Macau. At this event, 288 channel partners from India attended the Kaspersky Lab India Partner conference and the launch of all new product series in Macau.

Jagannath Patnaik, director, channel sales, South Asia, Kaspersky said, "This is the next step of our growth in the country. The partners were selected on the basis of our recent partner program 'Fly to Macau', which was executed during the period of April-June. All partner categories are privileged to avail this program depending on their levels and geographic locations." He further added that partners from A, B and even C class cities attended the event, out of which about 25 partners came along with their families.

The company official states that the company had a decent growth across the country wherein north was the most profitable, followed by South and East. To their surprise, although the Western region did good, but was not up to the expectation.

Kaspersky offers specific schemes for each category which includes platinum, gold and silver. In addition, it also offers freebies for smaller partners across the country. As of today, the company has about 26 platinum partners who are also called regional sub distributors. There are about 300+ gold partners and about 2,000+ silver partners. Patnaik said, "The key focus area to develop our strength is in the gold and silver partner category." He further said, "Indeed, we would be looking at adding some more gold partners, but it depends purely on the area and the market requirements. We do not intend to add unwanted competition and as of now it is at an optimum level. While the silver partner category is an ongoing process, we are keen on adding more partners in this category."

At the product front, Kaspersky is all set to launch its security solutions for Mac and mobile devices. To promote its products, the company has rolled out a scheme wherein if the user registers and activates the product before October 30, he or she will get an additional validity of 4 months. For the partners, the company is rolling out 'Jashn-e-azadi' scheme starting first week of September to October 31. Also, it is planning to give away freebies for smaller partners under this scheme.

The company has recently stopped paying earned cash rewards to its partners. The announcement was made after the product launch. Going ahead, the partners will be able to redeem it in the form of products available on its partner portal www.sakri.in/prima. This portal is run by US based Grassroots, a company that specializes in partner managed services.
