Apart from education and manufacturing, another sector which is slowly making its mark in the region is the information technology (IT) sector. The city is witnessing steady growth in the IT business from the past few months. Harbhajan Singh, CEO, Infotech Computers & Communications said that the market was average since the past few months. Kamal Kant Bhasin, owner, Pranay Computers said in concurrence, "The market is sluggish from the past few months. Prices of the PC components have gone up and customers buying behavior has also changed. I would also like to mention here, that the attitude of the vendors towards their distributors have also changed."

Providing business to this steady market, segments like government and education are doing pretty well in the city. Talking about the most contributing verticals of the city, Singh said, "Education, government and SME sectors are doing well in Karnal." Bhasin also agreed with government, SOHO and education sectors as the most contributing ones. While mostly all brands are doing good in the city, partners chose a few which are doing better then the rest. "Acer, Lenovo and Dell are doing good amount of business in the city. Whereas among the products, branded assembled desktops and laptops sells the most," said Bhasin.

Talking about the vendor-dealer relationship, Arora said that he doesn't face any problem with his vendors. However, Bhasin had a different story to tell. He said, "Vendors sometime follows monopolistic policies, hence these is no protection for small dealers in the region. Also, the distributors want cheques in advance; so where will the small dealers go?"

Citing his views on Karnal Computer Dealers' Association (KCDA), the local IT association of the region, Singh said that the association is quite active in the region. On the other hand, Bhasin cited that the association is losing its charm since the past few months. "KCA usually solves all our problems, but since the last 6-7 months it has become a bit inactive. Also, some dealers of the regions have become RDs so their attitude have changed," he added.
