Kale consultants, developer of software products has signed $ 5 million deal with Seoul based Asiana Airlines for their cargo and services in
Mumbai.
Under the terms, Asiana will procure Kale's cargo solutions--Amber and CSP for use by the airline. Further, Asiana and Kale will partner to extend the functionality available in CSP and market the same to other airlines. Thus, Asiana will be an anchor customer as well as co-development partner for Kale's cargo solution suite.
Speaking on the occasion, JI Kim, VP-Cargo, Asiana stated, "By procuring and co-developing such a system, Asiana aims to meet specific business needs pivotal to the operation of a modern airline and global aviation industry in general." NP Park, Senior VP-IT, Asiana added that through this Asiana expect to have a tighter control of flight through the allotment process and moving much of the decision making away from operations to the earlier phases of the cargo logistics process.
Kale said that the cargo solutions available currently are characterized by inflexible legacy systems and outdated technology. And Kale's products--Amber and CSP represent a new breed of cargo solutions.
Amber is a sophisticated cargo revenue accounting system. It enables pricing and agent invoice processing, peroration, terminal invoicing, interline billing and the rapid and accurate monitoring of general business performance. CSP is a flexible, modular enterprise wide cargo system that maximizes business opportunity and profit. Release 2 to be co-developed with Asian will cover areas such as ULD Tracking, e- Business and Data warehousing.
Vipul Jain, MD, Kale Consultancy said that the deal would generate over $ 20 million for Kale Consultancy over the next five years. Kale acquired four products including Amber and CSP from Speedwing, a subsidiary of British airways in august 2000. In the month of December 2002 Kale received an order from ground Handling Agent-DAHACO and the current Asiana deal had followed that.
