Kalam gets first copy of his book

The President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and DRDO Chief Controller (R&D) Dr A Sivathanu Pillai were presented copies of the book ‘Envisioning An Empowered Nation, Technology for Societal Transformation’ by Tata McGraw-Hill MD Dr N Subrah-manyam on the occasion of Children’s Day in New Delhi. 

Priced at Rs 295, the book has been co-authored by Kalam and Pillai and is the outcome of their interactions with students from all parts of the country and is dedicated to the youth and the student in India. The book brings out the role and importance of the techno-logy for the nation’s develop-ment and is presented here as a roadmap, which will benefit students and youth to contri-bute in achieving missions leading to Developed India.

“With the advent of the knowledge age, India finds itself in a very advantageous position, as it will bring societal transformation in education, healthcare, agriculture and governance. This transforma-tion will lead to large employ-ment generation, high produc-tivity, high national growth and empowerment of the weaker sections, networked and trans-parent society and rural pros-perity. India’s glory will again return during the knowledge age, as India has the core comp-etencies of information and communication technologies and knowledge workers. Our strength is to be capitalized to achieve the above goals of nation building,” the book said.
