A seven days of state mourning has been declared by the government following the death of beloved Chief Minister J Jayalalitha. The order copy came after three days of holidays was declared for all educational institutions and business entities.

The channel partners in Tamil Nadu call her a pro-industrialist Chief Ministers. Mahesh Kurup, Ceo, Ozone computer services, Coimbatore, says, “ She was the first person to bring those efforts. She was a person thinking of pro-development. I remember she was the first person who brought the land records computerized and set a role model for the e-governance.”

Muthiah R Pillai, CEO, Bits computers, Tirunelveli, recalls the ‘free-laptop’ scheme. “This is assumedly the first government-backed project that took the information technology to rural places. She can be called as a person who took laptops like mobile phones to every nook and corner of the state”

The news about her death started spreading in the late evening as tension prevailed across the state. All the channel partners closed their doors late evening. All the IT shops are likely to remain closed for next 24 hours.
