Jalan to focus on retail

Kolkata-based Jalan Infotech is geared up to strengthen its focus on
retailing. The distributor is looking forward to achieving the same feat in the
retail space as it has as a distributor.

Jalan has two retail showrooms-Avenue Q, at GC Avenue and Meridian at
Alipur, which was renovated a few months back and was repositioned to attract
more customers. Interestingly, the company's retail division is a separate
entity and its revenue is not counted in its total turnover. The retail revenue
is calculated separately and adds Rs 30 crore to the company turnover.

According to Arun Jalan, Director, Jalan Infotech, retail is an area which is
growing fast. “Our retail sales is picking up and is getting us good business.
We have been highly focused on laptops through retail and it's selling
tremendously,” said Jalan.

The company is now planning to open a third retail showroom in southern
Kolkata, which will be a branch to Meridian Alipur, in the next three months
time.

It recently tied up with Techno City, a huge multi-story showroom dedicated
to electronics products. Apart from that, Jalan has also tied up with few more
CE shops like, Great Eastern Trading Company, Harmony House and Sales Emporium.
