rising expectations on the IT business amidst the channel community
to boom in December 2010, IT Association of Orissa ( href="https://www.dqweek.com/it-conclave-triumphs-in-orissa">ITAO)
is about to
postpone its IT expo to February next year. Sources in the
association have suggested that most of the channel partners in the
capital city of Orissa are of the view that business will be booming
during December and retail purchases in the showrooms are expected to
increase by over 38 percent. The sub-distribution business will also
be booming, though at a lesser percentage.
As
a
result of these predictions, sources in ITAO said that the channel
partners in the state have appealed to the association to postpone
the expo as they want to focus on their business during the peak
business months, instead of getting busy with the expo and not able
to concentrate on a lucrative opportunity. Adhering to the views of
the channel partners and its members across the state, ITAO is
expected to call off the expo and re-schedule it.
“ size="3">We
will hold a meeting to discuss about the dates for the expo which may
happen in February next year if in case it gets cancelled in coming
December. However, the final decision has not been taken and we are
awaiting responses about the same from our members,” said Dayananda
Ratho, Secretary, ITAO. However,
sources in the association revealed that ITAO is already in talks
with the municipal authorities for booking the venue for 15 days
starting from February 1, although no official communication over the
same has been sent to any members yet.
Whereas,
questions
about sponsorship in the proposed expo has been raised
within ITAO, the association has claimed that there has not been any
loss of interest regarding participation from the sponsor's end it
is only a portion of the channel partners across the state who have
opined to postpone it.

the expo in mid-December, ITAO has already booked the Exhibition
Ground at the state capital for fifteen days to kick start the event
with the association already in process of looping in the software
vendors and the large-scale SPs and SI's like TCS and Wipro in its
fold.
“ style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"> size="3">Even
if the expo is postponed till next year, we will be holding it in the
same scale as we had planned for December and there will not be any
loss of participation or sponsors,” claimed Ratho. size="3"> Also,
Ratho said that the deemed expo will be having the constant figure of
atleast Rs 30 lakh as its budget, a whopping two-fold increase since
Bhubneshwar's last IT expo in 2008.
