The IT Expo has roped in the state support to increase its weightage
IT Association of Orissa (ITAO) is scaling up the size of its IT Expo to 100
stalls as compared to 60 in 2004. The Association recently met to finalize on
the dates for Expo and firmed up on February 4-7, 2005. The four-day event will
be held at the exhibition grounds, informed ITAO Secretary Sudershan Goenka. The
theme of the event still being fine-tuned broadly includes showcasing the Orissa
opportunity window. The Expo has been clubbed with the Orissa Government E-biz
event that was originally scheduled for April and has participation from across
India. "We have roped in the state support to increase the weightage for
our Expo," elaborated Goenka. ITAO is focusing on getting as much exposure-for
the state and the channel community-as is possible through the Expo.
The Association has decided to introduce a new category in this Expo entitled
C where the stalls will be outside the pavalion and will showcase digital
consumer goods. "There were be products ranging from security to
entertainment to mobile phones," said Goenka. To sustain the consumer
interest the Association is also working towards arranging quizzes and games for
children and is specifically inviting training institutes to showcase their
products at the Expo. "We are discounting rates for them," he
informed.
According to ITAO secre-tary, the Association is leaving no stone unturned to
make it a big success. "We are also working at making a repre-sentation to
the government to get sales tax relief on the business done at the exhi-bition,"
said Goenka.
The Association wants to do its bit to attract the IT businesses to the
State. It won't be long before Orissa arrives on the IT scene, he added
stating, "All eyes are on Orissa."
