Information Technology Association of Orissa (ITAO) conducted a training program in collaboration with MAXIM (a cell of Xavier Institute of Management,
Bhubaneswar).
As a business development strategy planned by ITAO, the executive body members felt the need of reinforcing basic management concepts for the members and other IT vendors of the state. This could only be achieved through short-term management training-cum-workshop.
The training was conducted on 16th March 2003 at hotel Marrion. The training was done with role-play and case method of study with interactive sessions. Study materials were also supplemented for better understanding. The six hours training
program was first of its kind for ITAO, where there was an attempt to educate the members engaged in IT business as regard to financial discipline and strategies related to financial decisions related to day to day operations.
Today, pressure on all business enterprises in IT market of Orissa is to retain profit and reduce losses. Unhealthy competition is far better now than at any previous times. Meeting these pressures requires the support of a progressive team and understanding of business practices, which affects our balance sheet on day-to-day basis. Each member needs to have an
access to current and accurate information related to their activities, which can help him to take day-to-day decisions.
Needless to say, this training program was well appreciated by all ITAO members, which will help them to streamline their business and increase their profitability. The program was attended by 18 organizational members of ITAO. The representatives of ITAO felt that they will conduct more of such programs in the future.
